Populist Movements Research Assignment
From the Tea Party, to Occupy Wall Street, the past decade as seen an outbreak of different populist movements, often stemming from different ideological positions. In this project, students are tasked with choosing one this the different populist movements that is still active today (a movement like Greenpeace would be okay, but I would suggest students avoid obsolete movements like Weather Underground).
After selecting a populist movements, students are to research and compose a report that addresses the following topics:
Their final report should address these topics, but can be presented in whatever means they feel comfortable (powerpoint, written document, video...etc).

- How did the movement start? Did the movement stem from a specific event? Or a broader up-swell of populism?
- How is the movement led? Is their a leader? A specific leadership structure?
- What ideological beliefs shape the movement?
- How has the movement attempted to bring about change? Are they politically active? Do they stage protests?
